Born in the USA...
Bred for the world's classic styles

Briess is located in Chilton, Wisconsin. That's a looong way from Munich, Burton upon Trent or any other "traditional" brewing region.

So we understand if you think imported malt is the way to go when making a German Pilsner or an English Ale. But scores of American brewers know they don't need to wait for the boat to arrive to brew award-winning traditional beers. They brew with handcrafted specialty malts from Briess.

The Briess product line is noted for its wide variety and versatility. That's because we have the best of both worlds...er, make that continents...both 2-Row and 6-Row varieties of malting barley.

So we produce both 2-Row and 6-Row varieties of malt. And our malting experts know just how to turn that barley into excellent malt, including traditional European-style malts and domestic specialty malts that lend themselves to traditional beer styles.

Here's a sampling of commercially available, traditional beers and the Briess Malts in them (not all the malts listed are in one beer). Use this as a starting point to formulate your traditional beer with traditional malts that just happen to be made closer to home.
